OBJECTIVITY GOGGLES FOR FREE

The capacity to observe selectively is a valuable tool at the hands of inquisitive minds. Selective  observation is a skill that takes years of practice to perfect. Ever  saw some one solving  a jigsaw puzzle at an amazing speed, or  a friend who almost always instantly comes up with  very convincing solutions to difficult problems confronting you or your group, well that's selective observation at work for you. At the outset, the principles of selective observation are fairly simple, it simply involves selectively focussing attention on the most relevant elements of key visual frames. But dig deeper and you find that it is easier said than done. Which visual frames to consider "key" and which "elements" to select are problems which majority of people find too complex to bother themselves with. Also, posing hurdles in the adoption of objective observation is the fact that its practically difficult if not impossible for people to be on a "Search Mode" 24X7.

One way in which the problems associated with selective observation can be solved is by bringing objectivity on board. The moment you have an objective in mind the identification of key visual frames (situations) and elements will follow seamlessly. After a few years of conscious practice, one will find that the 24X7 search mode runs on auto pilot (takes place subconsciously) and one is not required to place any effort for its operation. Since objectivity is an important cog in the operating mechanism of selective observation, it is perhaps more  apt to lable it as "Objective Observation".

Objective observation can work wonders for you in your choosen profession or subject (in case you happen to be a student). You will not only gain the capability of gathering "more relevant" information than your peers in your choosen field, but also develop the capability to organise and analyse the collected information more effectively. Since most of what we call knowledge is a result of what we have seen or heard in the past, needless to say objective observation will improve your knowledge levels manifolds. It will also help you readily identify "missing pieces"  (untapped opportunities) in your environment and capitalise on them before any one else does. And like wine, the art of objective observation grows better and more refined with passage of time.

Its appalling to see how devoid of objectivity most people get when it comes to social behaviour. Just to cite an example to you, I have been on Facebook almost  for a year now and have rarely encountered any thing shared on Facebook or for that matter any Social Networking Site which could even remotely be considered to be of any substance. A old friend of mine once correctly described  life on Face Book  as "Banality is rife here..." which is not different from the view I myself hold. Agreed, that many people exhibiting trite behaviour on FB may not be so deviod of substance in their actual lives. But it wont take much time before their FB self takes control over whatever good they had in their actual self. Indolence is a highly addictive trait irrespective of whether it manifests itself in the physical or the cognitive.

Objective observation can serve as the starting point for many FB users to free themselves of the lousy engagements with their "network" and get real. We get just one life to live, no point in filling it up with meaningless bull****.
